GMU Must End Partnerships with Koch!

Charles Koch, George Mason University’s largest donor, admits that the university programs and research centers he funds serve an explicit purpose: to mainstream & legitimize the ideas that support the Koch network’s corporate policy agenda-- an agenda that seeks to destroy our democracy and further consolidate the power of the wealthy elite in the United States and abroad. 

George Mason University host several of these politically-motivated Koch-funded research centers, including the Mercatus Center, the Institute for Humane Studies, the Law and Economics Center, the Institute for Immigration Research, among others.

The Mercatus Center has underpinned the Koch network’s climate denial movement for the past decade. The Institute for Humane Studies facilitates youth recruitment for the Koch network, vetting students for career-building opportunities based on ideology. The Law and Economics Center educates of our nation’s federal and state judges in how to apply pro-corporate principles to their judicial decisions. The Institute for Immigration Research is one of many programs Koch is funding to whitewash their racist policy agenda. Charles Koch himself also sits on the board of the Mercatus Center and the Institute for Humane Studies, posing a major conflict of interest to the centers themselves and George Mason University as an institution. 

These programs do not belong on a college campus.
